Summer Lunch Program

Off Season

The Joshua Project volunteers are coordinated in the Middleburgh Central School, Cobleskill United Methodist Church, Richmondville United Methodist Church, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Central Bridge, Schoharie Library, and Sharon Springs Community Center to provide lunches to children, families with children and elderly during the summer. The lunches are free and open to the public. In 2026, this program served over 18,000 lunches. Contact us for more information.

Summer Backpack Program

Off Season

Throughout the summer, the Joshua Project Volunteers deliver food to needy children in outlying areas of Schoharie County and a portion of southern Albany County. This program is funded, in part, by The United Way. In 2025, the program delivered 216 backpacks of food each week, feeding more than 270 children and delivering more than 51,000 meals.

Donate Toys

The Joshua Project accepts donations of new toys and other Christmas gift items. These items are then redistributed to families in need. To request toys for your family, sign up here. Adopt-a-Family Program

Holiday

At Christmas, The Joshua Project works with individuals and businesses who would like to adopt families in need. Just sign up and we’ll match you with a family and provide information on appropriate gifts and other support. Requests will be accepted starting October 12 thru November 27 for the 2026 program.

In 2025, The Joshua Project coordinated the adoption of 65 families by local individuals and businesses.

Thanksgiving Baskets

Holiday

Baskets of traditional Thanksgiving food are delivered to families throughout the Valley on the Sunday before the Holiday. In 2025, working with Catholic Charities, we delivered 550 baskets to families in need.

The Basket includes items such as,

  • 1 Frozen Turkey
  • Boxed Stuffing
  • Various Vegetables
  • Cranberry Sauce
  • A Frozen Dessert

We are still seeking volunteers to help deliver meals.

Schoharie County Christmas for Kids

Holiday

Every December, The Joshua Project hands out toys, games, arts & Crafts, Pajamas, gift cards and other items to families in need. Approved applicants are invited to The Joshua Project Building to shop for each of their children for free.

In 2025 the program gave out presents and gift cards to over 1200 children in 437 families

Applications for this program will be accepted starting October 7 – December 4 for the 2026 Program.
